The leading PV manufacturing company Jinko Solar has been affected with a continuous fire at the wafer production facility located at the National Shangrao Economical and Technical Development Zone in the province of Jianxi, China. Jinko Solar stated that the fire began spreading from the raw materials present in the handling section of the factory while the cause of the fire was not known at that time. The company has also revealed that there were no any potential injuries and the fire was controlled within hour.
However, Energy-Trend, a Taiwan based market research firm, stated that the fire started spreading around 6 am local time on March 17 and was ultimately extinguished around 10 am local time. Energy Trend has also shared that around 1000 employees are working at the wafer plant. Jinko Solar said that the fire might have some impact on the usual production whereas the evaluated fire damage is around hundreds and thousands of Yuan.

Jinko Solar has given another statement which further downplays the impact of the fire and mentioned that the fire was put out within hour and did not have any impact on the surrounding area and other facilities. Jinko Solar has also downplayed that provisional estimated cost damages would be between RMB0.5 million and RMB1 million.
